Castles, Dolphins, and Sunsets in secluded bays.

See where the wind takes you as you learn to sail a tall ship.

These are just some of the things you will experience on our 3 day Explorer. Our ethos centres on maximising the sights and experiences wherever the wind may take us. As such we do not promise a strict itinerary but a fantastic experience is guaranteed with sailing at its heart. Learn the basics of boat handling, navigation, knots, sail trim, and more!

Possible itinerary A: We may head south passing Whitley Bay, Sunderland, and Hartlepool before arriving in Whitby. You can then spend the morning strolling the many shops and alleyways of Whitby Town, and perhaps a visit to the stunning Whitby Abbey before boarding again for more spectacular sailing. The second night might find us moored in Newcastle where the dazzling lights of the millenium bridge twinkle off of the River Tyne. Further sailing awaits on day 3 before our return to Blyth.

Possible itinerary B: We may head north passing Druridge bay, Amble, and the breathtaking Dunstanburgh and Bamburgh castles. Dolphins and other wonderful wildlife await as we pay the Farne Islands. If the time and tides line up we may end up anchoring off of Holy Island where perhaps a trip ashore in our dingy is possible. Further sailing north may take us the the imposing historic walled town of Berwick Upon Tweed. Spend a few hours exploring the town or walking the walls themselves with lovely coastal views.

All itineraries are subject to change. See our Booking Terms for more information.

Life onboard

You are encouraged to get involved in all aspects of the voyage that you are comfortable with, from hauling sails, taking the helm, and even helping in the galley from time to time. Coming together as a team is what makes our overnight trips so memorable. All training is provided and there are tasks to suit all levels of ability.

Accomodation

Sleeping facilities onboard are modest but comfortable. Prepare for a cozy glamping trip rather than a luxurious hotel room and you will have a grand time. Each bunk has a thick foam mattress covered in waterproof fabric. The bunks have curtains for privacy and lights. We provide pillows and a knitted blanket but you need to bring a pillowcase, single twin sheet, and your sleeping bag. See more info in the FAQ.
